Bill Deane collected three-pitch half-innings for many years. After discovering that six such innings had occurred in 2003, he decided to pass the list on.<\/p>\n

Six of the 1910-19 incidents are listed in the 1920 edition of Spalding’s Official Base Ball Record<\/i>, while two others are from the book Walter Johnson, Baseball’s Big Train<\/i>. Many of those from recent years were found by looking through the data at retrosheet.org<\/span><\/u><\/a>.
