Robotics for the Streets:
Service to Education to Research
This website as well as Instructables, HacksterIO, YouTube, GitHub and social media channels will document my guidebook for members of academia to use open-source hardware for service, education, and research. It will describe the creation of an open-source mobile robot platform with the flexibility and modularity for modification based upon experience level, educational, outreach, or research goals. It will illustrate how using open source hardware opens up STEM to make it more accessible to more communities and in that way serve to diversify STEM.
I will complete my work in four phases between June 2022 and May 31, 2023.
The first step is the creation of a mobile robot platform flexible enough to be used for service, education, and research (see Figure 1).
The deliverables will include the hardware, software, code, videos, images, blog posts, lectures, learning objectives, assignments, and research goals (see Figure 2).
The dissemination plan will include social media posts, blogs, journals, articles, videos, images, conference papers, talks, and demonstrations (see Figure 3).
