Winter 2020 Implementation Trip

Earlier this month during quarter break (and luckily right before coronavirus shut everything down) we had the opportunity to send seven of our students and two mentors down to Ecuador to conduct a third assessment trip for our water distribution project in Ecuador.  Once in the country we met up with or NGO, Engineers in Action, who went to the community with us helping us with everything from logistics, to translating, to technical support. In the community we also were fortunate enough to receive help from local residents. On this trip we started to build the spring box in an effort to be able to better quantify the amount of water the spring we have selected as our water source for the project supplies.

In addition, we continued to conduct additional survey work for the project.  This time, in an effort to try to identify a route that we can take from the spring to Santa Teresita Road without needing any pumps to convey the water uphill.

The trip was an amazing learning for all those that went and a great bonding experience, all while doing meaningful work to help bring clean water to the residents front doors’.  We look forward to getting the opportunity to share progress and stories with all of campus later on this spring when we are allowed to return to Rose.
