Description
Do these look like math to you?
I hope so! In particular, these things all use a type of math called Combinatorics, which is studied in MA374. If you like making things, and you have taken MA374 or are going to take it in the Winter, this class will be a fun way to further explore those concepts! Depending on your interests, we might be using string, beads, paper, wood, 3-D printing, digital art, or something I haven’t thought of yet. You don’t need to know how to make anything before the class starts; I will show you everything you need to know.
The class will be primarily based on projects, which will be loosely coordinated with the sections of MA374 being taught in the Winter. Your homework will be making things. Your grade will be based on your creative ideas and how well you can explain the mathematical concepts that you use to your classmates!

(Note that the class is officially meeting Tuesdays and Thursdays, but the room will also be reserved Monday and Wednesday for “studio time” where you can work on projects with or without my help.)
